2024 March Board Book

Products, Process & Packaging Innovation Conference Shell Beach, February 28-29, 2024. Over 110 participants gathered for the 2 nd CDIC/CalPoly conference, to listen to industry leaders and subject matter experts on product, packaging, and process innovation. International speakers from Canada, France and Denmark presented innovation and trends; research funded by CDIC was featured, as well as a product innovation showcase. The event was sponsored by Leprino Foods, California Dairies, Amcor, DSM Firmenich, Dairy Management, Inc., the California Dairy Research Foundation, and the Pacific Coast Coalition.

2024 Short-Course and Events Planning CDIC staff is working with collaborating academic institutions and industry partners for its program of short courses and conferences in 2024. The availability of short-courses is promoted through advertising, professional social media, press releases and short features in industry publications.

Attracting New Workforce

2023 Internships Report In 2023, a total of 15 interns have worked on CDIC-funded internships. Projects ranged from literature reviews, product development, packaging testing to an inventory of artificial intelligence tools for the dairy processing sector. . Funding for internships is made available from the Pacific Coast Coalition, and processors. CDIC also works with past interns to facilitate their placement with industry. In 2024, CDIC is actively involved with several California processors seeking to hire interns from partner academic institutions, arranging meetings with faculty, food science clubs and individual faculty
