Strengthening Academic Capacity

Cal Poly Pomona – Meetings with CDIC staff and Dairy Management Inc. were organized at CalPoly Pomona academic staff and chair to exchange information on programs and discuss future collaborations. The CalPoly Pomona is one of the largest food science programs in California, with over 150 students, and is currently not connected with the dairy industry. CDIC external funding CDIC received approval for its proposal for 2024 from Dairy Management Inc. for a total of $210,000 (contract ending final USDA approval), $10,000 in event sponsorships from the California Dairy Foundation and expects to receive over $170,000 in sub-awards from the Pacific Coast Coalition In 2023, CDIC collaborated with the Business Development Team for a new proposal to DMI to assist with entrepreneurship programs at Fresno State and CalPoly San Luis Obispo and received $40,000. A 2024 proposal is being prepared. External funding received in 2023 totaled $384,188, and is estimated to reach $450,000 in 2024 (~40% of total CDIC budget).
