STRATEGIC GOALS 2024 – 2028 IMPROVING & INNOVATING THE LONG-TERM SUSTAINABILITY OF THE CALIFORNIA DAIRY INDUSTRY DEPENDS ON ITS ABILITY TO RESPOND TO FUTURE OPPORTUNITIES AND RISKS. In 2023, a major effort was undertaken to refresh and revise our Strategic Business and Research Plan, incorporating up-to-date intel obtained through survey, direct interview, and fittingly, research. The 2024-2028 Plan is descriptive of our emphasis on collaboration and our increased commitment to outline the benefits and impacts of our research results to our producers and other stakeholders. Key elements for ongoing success include the industry’s capacity to adapt to change, innovate, and improve competitiveness based on efficient use of available resources. CDRF’s strategic goals provide a guide for the most effective use of CDRF’s resources to best address the needs of the California dairy industry.

FOCUS ON THE FUTURE Five areas of focus were identified as priorities where CDRF could most benefit the industry.

VISION: CDRF’s vision is to enable a sustainable California Dairy Industry. MISSION: CDRF’s mission is to support the long-term health and sustainability of California’s dairy industry through targeted research, science-based education pro grams, and strategic partnerships. STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE: CDRF’s objective is to leverage research and science-based education to promote and protect the safe and sustainable production and consump tion of milk and dairy products based on their benefits, throughout the entire value chain. IMPACT: The California dairy industry’s knowledge, innovative practices and eco nomic efficiency will be greatly expanded through CDRF’s work in managing dairy research and science-based educational programs, assimilating critical technical information, and providing advice.
