2024 Short-Courses and Events The following courses and events were held during the period:
Advanced Unit Operations, CalPoly SLO (May 14-15) <30 participants with zoom option. The course included for the first time a module on dairy economics and pricing (offered via zoom) and received excellent ratings.
Dairy Products Technology 101, Novato (May 30) Over >40 participants. This was the first course held in Northern California and it was very well received by regional attendees, as well as suppliers of equipment and ingredients to industry. The course featured lectures and hands-on demos. Feedback include requests to hold the class annually.
Yogurt and Fermented Milks, UC Davis (June 20-21)
Over 65 participants. The 2-day class was organized in collaboration and with the support of The Dairy Council of California, the California Dairy Research Foundation and Dairy Management Inc. This new short course on fermented milks attracted health professionals, dairy processors and food formulators. It includes a wide variety of topics from nutrition to manufacturing and innovation. Satisfaction rating >90%. Advanced Cheesemaking, CalPoly SLO (July 16 17) >30 participants. This annual cheesemaking class covers the fundamentals of cheese manufacture, as well as in-depth processing techniques. It allows for ample hands-on experience in the creamery and pilot
plant. >90% satisfaction rating.
