The Processor Partnerships team made 19 e-Introductions including internal and external introductions leading to further inquiries and/or collaboration. These connections are critical to finding co-packers, promoting products, and growing the California dairy business in general. We will be following up on connections that generated meaningful business from these connections in future reports.

Trade Policy Update

Trade policy includes updates on current trade deals and the status of pending negotiations. The USMCA deal between the U.S., Canada and Mexico has some enforcement issues with Canada which are being addressed. Mexico has always been a great trading partner and there are no major issues. The Phase I China deal also has some issues with China not meeting the agreed upon volume of purchases from the U.S. This is also being addressed, but negotiations with China are not smooth, with ongoing tensions between our countries. Congress will be in preparation for negotiations and proposals for the upcoming Farm Bill, which will be drafted in the next Congress after the elections. Trade Policy is a part of this Bill, so USDEC will be actively pursuing tariff reductions for China as well as laying the groundwork for a potential trade deal with the U.K.
