Status update from Flora on ESL to China: We called Customs and NHC again today. Per Officer Fan from Shanghai Customs, they have again sent the request to China Customs asking them to expedite the decision. He mentioned that China Customs has been working with NHC about the detailed standards and operation of ESL milk importation from U.S. He has sent request again to ask for confirmation, hopefully to get the written document from NHC asap. Also, the call with NHC indicates that the tentative decision about adding ESL into pasteurized milk category remains unchanged. They now have all the documents and info about ESL ready. But they will also need to talk with Ministry of Agriculture, requiring a little bit more time. This decision involves many ministries here in China, so complicated and taking more time. Will continue to track down to the final decision.
