Butter Year to date the Butter category has seen a growth trend compared to the previous year. YTD dollar sales for yogurt (weeks ending 07.28.2024) are sitting at $2.97B, showing a significant increase of $179M or 6.4% compared to the previous year. Sub category Refrigerated Butter in the key driver is the primary contributor to the category's success, displaying significant growth in both dollar and volume sales. Dollar sales is up $2.73B or 7.3& vs the same time period year ago. Sub category, Butter Blends, is seeing challenges. Butter Blends has experienced a decline in both dollar sales and volume, which has slightly hindered the overall category growth. Despite the challenges faced by RFG Butter Blends, the category as a whole remains strong, largely due to the robust performance of RFG Butter Cottage Cheese The cottage cheese category has shown significant growth in both dollar and volume sales year-to-date. The double-digit growth in dollar sales (16.3%) and volume sales (13.0%) reflects increased consumer demand. This trend has been significantly amplified by social media platforms like TikTok, where users share innovative recipes such as cottage cheese ice cream, savory breakfast bowls, and even baked dishes featuring cottage cheese. While traditional plain cottage cheese remains popular, there is a growing trend toward flavor innovations. Brands are introducing cottage cheese with various fruit flavors, such as pineapple and berries, as well as experimenting with savory options like chives and other herbs. Weight Control The weight control category has shown solid growth year-to-date, with total dollar sales reaching $6,037,756,787, reflecting a 9.7% increase compared to the previous year. This growth is accompanied by a 9.9% increase in volume sales. The category's performance is supported by a stable ACV weighted distribution of 99.72, nearly identical to the previous year, which suggests consistent product availability across retail outlets. Additionally, the average weekly dollars per store selling have increased by 7.0%, indicating stronger sales performance per store. The subcategory of weight control/nutritionals liquid/powder, which makes up the bulk of this category, has also experienced a 9.4% increase in dollar sales, reaching $5,916,502,201.
