Domestic Retail The first chart below is for TTL US, the second is California. On the left is latest 52 weeks, with the timeframe progressively shorter until the last column which is the last 4 weeks, through 12-31-23.

For the latest 52 weeks (full year 2023), California is trending similar to, but slightly behind the TTL US. California cheese and butter and cottage cheese all grew volume in 2023. Conversely though, California ice cream and novelties are declining, and both more so than national trends. The dairy growth story for the year is definitely cottage cheese. For the last four weeks of the year, CA outpaced Total US growth. With double-digit growth both in CA and across the US, it’s safe to say there is more growth ahead.
