Multi-Strategies Activities

Small Plant Feasibility Study CDIC worked with a supply company to obtain estimates for small dairy plants, in containers, suitable for university settings, and with an engineering firm for the planning of pilot plants. These proposals, along with boarder expansion plants and curriculum development opportunities will be presented to Chico State, Humboldt State and Fresno State. CMAB teams met to create an internal Commercialization Committee whose focus will be be to advance private initiatives for small plants and adoption of new product concepts, working across teams to capitalize upon the strengths of the various departments of the organization. Innovation Grants for Industry The Pacific Coast Coalition opened another $4.1 million available to industry for innovation and plant expansion grants. Applications closed February 29. Driving Export Sales

Liquitank, a company specializing in the export of bulk liquids , worked with CMAB’s export team on the feasibility of bulk milk esports. The refrigerated containers could serve for exports of pasteurized fluid and/or concentrated milk. Furthermore, case studies and potential for the technology were presented to industry February 2024 during CDIC’s Innovation Conference.

Diversifying Product Portfolio

Student Teams engage in Fall Programs for Dairy Product Innovation Student teams at CalPoly, Chapman and Fresno State worked on multiple product concepts, with final pitch events scheduled in December. Over 50 students participated. A selection of these teams

will compete for the National product competition organized by DMI. CDIC staff and consultants provided technical support to the team and the faculty mentoring the students, helping with formulation and sourcing of material.
