Small Plant Feasibility Study The feasibility study for small-scale multi function dairy plant(s) was completed at the end of February, presented to the Board and the CDIC Steering Committee. A follow-up step for CDIC will include, as recommended by the CDIC Steering Committee, to set priorities with California institutions who have an interest in scalig-up their pilot plant/ co-manufacturing capabilities.

Innovation Grants for Industry CDIC worked with multiple applicants preparing applications for the Innovation grants made available by the Pacific Coast Coalition, which were due end of February 2023. CDIC staff and Steering committee members were invited to review selected applications from qualified applicants, as part of multiple review panels. Grants decisions will be announced mid-end May 2023.

Product, Process and Packaging Innovation Mini -Conference & Workshop September 7, 2023, Fresno State CDIC started planning its first mini-conference and workshop at Fresno State, scheduled for September 7, 2023, with support from the DBII/Pacific Coast Coalition. The program Committee members will work on topics and help select speakers, including student teams. • The one-day event will feature presentations on dairy foods market trends, innovations in products, process and packaging. •

The location in the Valley, and one-day format, will allow for broader participation from personnel with dairy companies, as well as from students at Fresno State and regional community colleges.

Products, Process & Packaging Innovation Conference 2028 Shell Beach, February 28-29, 2024. A venue was secured for CDIC’s second Innovation Conference, to be conducted in partnership with CalPoly. Conference planning will start Q3 2023.
