Café chain markets are developing quickly in China. By June 2023, there are over 32,844 chained café shops in China. It is also showing a diversified development. Now Tim Hortons, Luckin and Cotti etc. are stealing share from Starbucks. In terms of product trends, incorporating cheese into coffee is popular with the category of “raw cheese coffee”. Cal dairy can look at such novel applications of cheese in the café aspect to generate more interests and sales potential. Papa Johns opened its 300 restaurants in China and it aims to open another 200 restaurants in the next 3 years considering the resilience in foodservice channel in China. Papa Johns in China has been using Mozzarella shreds and string cheese from California for a decade. This expansion momentum will lead to sustained development of Cal cheese in pizza chain sector.
Moogo is in communication with Epoca Cool for the prune-flavored probiotic drinks, look to re launch the product to the market by the end of the year. Having asked to include the RCM seal.
Yofresca: Frozen yogurt (peanut butter flavor) will start sales in 5 Costco China stores from Mid October. Costco has also confirmed to launch another flavor (blueberry) from March 2024. Yofresca has placed new order of 3 40ft containers to arrive in late October.
Culinary curriculum continues in SSLIS Institute with another 350 student chefs to be trained on Cal cheese and application knowledge as well as hands-on practice.
The culinary curriculum program is getting more and more sophisticated. Another institute, Guangxi Commercial Technician College applies to become an educational and training center for California Dairy, incorporating Cal dairy products into their culinary courses. CMAB China will arrange a demo class in late October to its professors and student representatives. Formal Cal Dairy Curriculum will be launched in the college from beginning of 2024.
