Grants to Industry Offered Q3: DBII Phase I, $300,000 A total of $300,000 was made available to producers and processors for innovation projects, equipment, feasibility studies and training, as part of the Dairy Business Innovation Initiative, Phase I. The CDIC’s Steering Committee will review applications in September and funding will be made available by mid-October by host Fresno State. CDIC and CMAB staff were active in communicating the opportunity to CA-based producers and processors, answering questions, and assisting applicants with the process. Academic and Industry Networking CDIC staff meets regularly with researchers, faculty and administrators at Fresno State, Cal Poly SLO, CalPoly Humboldt, Chapman, Chico State and UC Davis. It actively networks to identify new funding sources from state and federal sources, as well as opportunities for research collaboration with process suppliers, other industry suppliers, regional Dairy Centers and DMI. CDIC is also networking with the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) to host a November event at CMAB’s Headquarters to highlight the range of careers offered by our industry, and attract new talent. The event will be coordinated with industry and CDIC’s Steering Committee.

The site will offer easy access to resources for entrepreneurs and food developers, promote internships, industry grants, on-line education programs, and events organized such as conferences and short-courses. CDIC is partnering with the Business Development and Processors Relations Teams to promote the CMAB Innovation Ecosystem, Incubator Program and facilitate processors ’ access to product and packaging innovation solutions and tech support through the website: CDIC.net (expected launch end of Q4)
