District 7 Dairy Princess Crowned…Page 2 of 3
First Alternate, Kiera Searcy, is the daughter of Gerra Searcy of Hanford. She is a senior at
Hanford High School and is an active member of the Hanford FFA. Kiera was the 2018 Hanford
FFA Treasurer, Agri-science Pathway’s Fundraising Chair, and a member of the agronomy,
cotton, agrifinance and cooperative judging teams. Kiera was a member of the State Champion
nursery/landscape judging team, placing second high individual in the state as a freshman. She
also raises and shows replacement heifers at the Kings County Fair and had the Reserve Grand
Champion replacement heifer at the 2018 Kings County Fair.
Kiera will assist the new District 7 Dairy Princess in her duties, which include speaking on
behalf of the California dairy industry at schools, service clubs, with the media, and at numerous
public events throughout the year.
In addition, the Dairy Princess and her Alternate will attend a training session with workshops on
presentation development, promoting the California dairy industry and leadership and etiquette
tools.
Also, the Kings County June Dairy Month committee recognized the Giacomazzi Dairy of
Hanford as the 2018 Kings County Dairy Family as well as Lilia Giacomazzi as the
Distinguished Dairywoman. Lilia is still actively involved in Kings County’s dairy industry and
is celebrating her 105th birthday in July. The Master of Ceremonies for the event was Joe Neves,
District One Kings County Board of Supervisors. Contestants were judged on poise, personality,
speaking ability, education and dairy background. Judges for the contest were Shannon Fast of
Fresno, MacKenzie Gomes of Turlock and Brandon Souza of Sacramento. The Dairy Princess
Co-Chairpersons are Jackie Giacomazzi and Debbie Raven.
California is the nation’s leading milk producer. It also produces more butter, ice cream, and
nonfat dry milk than any other state. The state is the second-largest producer of cheese and
yogurt. Dairy products made with Real California Milk can be identified by the Real California
Milk seal, which certifies that the products are made exclusively with milk produced on
California dairy farms by California dairy farm families.
