Quota Implementation Plan Referendum Deadline Extended

The Department has extended the Quota Implementation Plan (QIP) referendum through Friday, December 22, 2017. Valid ballots must be post marked no later than December 22, 2017 to be counted. As of December 5, 2017, the department has received a total of 516 ballots. The QIP will only go into effect if a Federal Order is promulgated for California. Should you have any questions regarding the QIP or the referendum process, or need a replacement ballot, please contact Donald Shippelhoute or Steve Donaldson at (916) 900-5014.

California Milk Production

California milk production decreased each month through the first three quarters of 2017, compared to the same month in the previous year.

Total milk production through the first three quarters finished at

29.97 billion pounds. This represents a decrease of 1.9 percent, compared to the 30.55 billion pounds produced during the same period in 2016. In October 2017, California produced 3.26 billion pounds of milk. This represents a decrease of 1.5 percent, compared to October 2016 production.
